LMS Route: Stratford Midland Junction - The Shakespeare
Route
Stratford on Avon Station: smjsa62
Looking towards Broom, the goods yard and exchange sidings.
The replacement canopy built in 1909 dominates what was a more sophisticated
structure. Its unclear why such a structure was adopted when a horizontal
canopy as adopted by many other railways in the country would have provided
both the protection required and be more appropriate to the structure.
The water crane near to the camera is of a similar type to
the original positioned at the west end of the station seen in image 'smjsa61'. However by the time this photograph was taken
the west end water column has now been replaced by a type without an arm as
seen in image 'smjsa44a'.
