Saltley Shed: mrsalt85
Ex-MR 1F 0-6-0T No 1856 is resting between duties at the
shed. Believed to be used to move locomotive stock about when 'dead' the design
appears to have the 'tool' box, seen on the running plate of No 1879 as seen in
image 'mrsalt81', as standard. Number 1856 built by
Sharp Stewart in January 1895 still has its original boiler fittings unlike No
1879 and remained in service until withdrawn from Saltley in July 1951 to
scrapped the same month by Derby works. 14 Aug 1937
