Close up of image 'mrkn277' showing the up platform's passenger facilities which by 1920 had gained a newsagents stall. The increase in passenger traffic since the opening of the more direct route into Birmingham is very evident when this image is compared to image 'mrkn531a' which was taken just a few years earlier. The station porter is working on one of the gas lampposts, most likely trimming the wick.
