LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Kings Norton Station: mrkn531a
This close up of image 'mrkn531a' shows two of the three
structures on the down platform. The last building was constructed in timber as
evident by the horizontal boarding (seen much more clearly in image 'mrkn522a'). The chimney on the building is of a
different type to those seen on the down platform being just simple glazed
stoneware pots on top of the brick chimney.
On the platform by the girl is a large porters barrow which
had two small wheels and two curved legs. Behind the gas lamp, with the bicycle
leaning against it, is another barrow but smaller barrow this one with straight
legs. The use of advertising poster is extensive almost to the point of being
unsightly. The more permanent advertising signs such as the 'Bovril' and
'Players' were made of enamel sheeting whilst adverts with a shorter shelf life
were paper posters.
