MR 0-6-0 4F No 3842 passes over Kings Norton level crossing as it draws forward a train of mineral wagons on to the up line on 11th March 1922. Built by Derby works in October 1911, No 3842 a member of the MR's 3835 class and was to remain in service until November 1959 when it was withdrawn from 9D Buxton shed to be scrapped in March 1960 by TW Ward Ltd of Killamarsh. This view was taken prior to the widening of the tracks to four roads. To the left is a gate that provided access to the signal box which was located immediately to the left of the photographer. The wooden crossing provided only partially covers the space between the 'four foot' and the 'six foot unlike the view seen in image'mrkn277a'.
