Kings Norton Station: mrkn530
View of a new footbridge being installed in 1926 at the
Northfield end of Kings Norton station. The footbridge being erected by the
travelling crane is that seen in image 'mrkn526'. LMS
4F 0-6-0 No 4040, with Deeley tender, is seen at the head of the short train
and would be used to propel the crane into a position to lower its load into
place.
Number 4040 was built by the LMS at Derby works in January
1925 and lasted in service for forty years being withdrawn from
Kirkby-in-Ashfield shed in November 1964 to be scrapped by Arnott & Young
Co of Parkgate and Rawmarsh in March 1965.
