LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Harborne
Rotton Park: lnwrrp87
One of a number of views taken by 'Cam' Camwell during the
last week of passenger operation in November 1934. The station sign, in what
appears to be in clean condition when compared to other photos, above was sited
at the Birmingham end of the station. The gas light is of a different pattern
to that seen in image 'lnwrrp84a' which may have occurred when one of the two
was added during the construction of the passing loop and second platform face
in 1901.
The LNWR lower quadrant signal is in the 'off' position
meaning it it has been set to allow traffic to pass on to the Rotton Park Road
- Icknield Port section of the line. The necessity of having a passing loop was
removed when passenger services were withdrawn so the loop was removed when the
station was demolished shortly afterwards.
