London Midland Scottish Railway Route: Nuneaton to
Leamington
Kenilworth Station: lnwrk1469
Another postcard showing the station from the main road
passing the station. From the number of passengers exiting the station it would
seem that a train has just arrived. The passengers attire, which is smart
casual or Sunday best, might indicate that this is a weekend or Bank Holiday
during the summer period. They could therefore be some of the thousands of
tourists who visited the town each year.
The tree line in the background is more full indicating
that this is a later photograph than that seen in image 'lnwrk1469'. The
entrance to the station was guarded by a pair of gates which would be closed at
least once a year (normally Christmas Day) to preserve the LNWR's ownership of
the forecourt and entrance. The building on the left just passed the gate was
the weighbridge with the tall signal box seen above. In between the two was the
goods yard and shed.
