Foleshill Railway: miscfr003
This picture of the Shell Shop was taken in the White &
Poppe factory in Holbrooks. The picture and a lot of information is included in
the excellent book 'We re-invented the Wheel', a Dunlop history, by Ron Vice.
Workers can be seen loading the shells on to a train inside
factory. Clearly with the locomotive in steam these shells have just been
manufactured and need to be taken away for filling with explosive. The shells
in view are of a similar calibre to the gun barrels that were manufactured in
the same industrial complex. C1916
