Spon End Arches, Coventry: lnwr190

This view taken by Ray Reed shows that he must have been standing side-by-side with Gordon Coltas. Spon End arches collapsed shortly after being built and the press at the time blamed shoddy workmenship and poor choice of materials. Not all the arches were rebuilt with blue engineering brick however as some of the original arches were deemed safe enough to reuse. The arches in this photo are built in a local sandstone and formed part of the original structure.
