The Ro-Railer reverses off the railway on to road using the special ramp which lay adjacent to the cattle dock

The Ro-Railer reverses off the railway on to road using the special ramp which lay adjacent to the cattle dock circa 1932. The left hand side of the Ro-Railer is visible in this view showing one of the two access doors. The design by Karrier Motors of Huddersfield with the coachwork by Cravens of Sheffield, included buffers, drawgear, lamp irons and sanding apparatus. The road wheels were mounted on eccentrics fitted to the outer extensions of the axles of the rail wheels. The change over took approximately five minutes although it was theoretically possible to halve the time.
