LMS Route: The Shakespeare Route
Fenny Compton: smjfc95
The track layout at Fenny Compton was revised in 1960 to
permit iron ore trains from Banbury to run off the GWR main line onto the SMJ
route to Stratford upon Avon where another new connection allowed the trains to
join the GWR route to Honeybourne. The SMJ single line is on the left whilst
the GWR main line are the two lines to the right. The second line from the left
was the used as the crossover for down traffic from Banbury to Stratford upon
Avon. This line continues to the GWR station where it rejoins the down GWR
line.
