The GWR station's timber framed and clad up platform passenger facilities were clearly better suited to the needs of passengers than that found on the SMJ station. However the GWR's practice of using old railway coaches and vans for storage facilities did give their station an unkempt look. The GWR cattle pens and landing were to the right of this photograph some 20 yards beyond this point. The area immediately behind the SMJ fencing was the driveway to the limited GWR goods facilities. The exchange sidings between the two companies was further beyond the cattle pens.
