This close up of image 'smje88' shows an unusual visitor to the station, the locomotive is thought to be a LNWR 0-6-0 'Coal Engine'. The goods yard appears to be fenced off from the railway at the far end even to the point of a gate protecting the spur from the main line. The nearest crossing was installed for the benefit of the signalman so that he could cross from the down to the up platform without using the crossing at the far end of the platform.
