LMS Route: The Shakespeare Route
Ettington Station: smje88a
This close up of image 'smje88' shows the goods shed's side
elevation which faced the railway. The two doors seen in the view above are for
the entrance used in transferring goods between rail and road. As can be seen
the bottom of the doors are approximately 3'6" above the ground being flush to
the platform inside the shed. The white semi-circle at the top of the doors is
thought to be an infill rather than a decorative feature. Instead of using a
lintel the builder's have built the opening as an archway in the manner used
for the doors seen image 'smje13a'.
