The only sign of luxury was the Nestle's chocolate machine which if the same as the one Mike saw as a child in Wales in the 1950s a bar of chocolate cost one penny, less than than a half-penny in decimal currency. The posters advertised the Isle of Man and the Midland Hotel at Morecambe.
