LMS Route: Stratford Midland Junction - The Shakespeare
Route
Burton Dassett Platform: smjbd83
Other than there be a platform and and a fascia reminiscent
of railway canopies it would be hard to identify this as a railway structure
based on its architecture. The large pair of doors are unusual and not
explained in either Arthur Jordan's or JM Dunn's books. The structure was
solely used for the sidings and without passenger services calling at the
station it is unlikely that there was any parcels traffic. The route as a whole
was very lightly populated with Burton Dassett being no exception and with
Fenny Compton being only two miles away its hard to understand why this
configuration was adopted.
