Washwood Heath Sidings: mrwhg348e
This close up of image 'mrwhg348' helps to illustrate the
way sidings were laid out. The furthest sidings are believed to be Nos 21 to 23
and are occupied by non-mineral traffic whilst the others are principally,
where occupied, by coal wagons. The segregation of different types of traffic
aided the process of sorting as mineral trains would be more prevalent and
would often travel to different destinations to non-mineral traffic. The line
of lamp posts would seem to only offer a lit walkway through the sidings rather
than lighting the general working areas.
