This view of the down sidings is thought to be looking towards Derby with the main Birmingham to Derby line on the extreme left of the photograph as depicted by the line of telegraph poles. The majority of the wagons in view are five or seven plank opens filled with coal. The unidentified locomotive is leaving the yard at the head of a coal train.
