Studley & Astwood Bank Station: mrstud596a

Close up showing the goods shed, offices and signal box that were located at the Redditch end of the platform

Close up of image 'mrstud596' showing the goods shed, offices and signal box which were located at the Redditch end of the platform. The pathway from the station platform, which ran from the white painted gate seen in image 'mrstud338a', is visible to the right of the goods shed, adjacent to the gable wall of Studley and Astwood station, and leads on to the station approach road. The goods shed's entrance accommodated a single siding which passed through the shed with a short section on the other side of the building to accommodate at least one or possibly two wagons. Inside the goods shed was a platform running the length of the building and to to the roadside wall seen on the right. This platform was at height convenient to allow porters to off-load rail vehicles with sack trolleys etc and wheel them directly on to road vehicles which would be parked beneath the short canopy. The office seen attached gives an indication to the volume of business emanating from the station as in most instances a desk within the shed would have sufficed.
