LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

Ex-LMS Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No 48700 passes Studley & Astwood Bank station on a northbound stopping train. Built for the LMS as LMS No 8700 by the Southern Railway at their Brighton works in May 1944 No 48700 was renumbered with its Britiah Railway running number in January 1949. As was the case with many post 1945 steam locomotives, it was sacrificed at the alter of dieslisation before it was necessary, being withdrawn from Patricroft shed in March 1968 for scrapping by Drapers Ltd of Hull.
