This close up of image 'mrst339' shows LMS 4F No 4069 standing at the head of the ballast train coupled next to the Guard's Van. Number 4069 was built by the North British Locomotive works in October 1925 and lasted in service for 38 years before it was withdrawn from Springs Branch shed at Wigan in October 1963 to be scrapped in July the following year by TW Ward Ltd of Broughton Lane, Sheffield.
