LMS Route: Water Orton to Walsall
Streetley Station: mrst339a
This close up of image 'mrst339' shows the station building
was built to a similar design to those at Penns and Streetly in that it had the
two outside sections of the building were set forward to the centre portion. In
this view this centre portion appears to have a canopy suspended between the
two "wings" whilst single storey extensions exist on both sides.
The relaying of the track under the ballast train has also
led to sleepers with chairs fitted being placed along the platform's length.
The use of 3 plank wagons, most appear to be empty, was to aid the discharging
of them by hand. The six wheel carriage next to the Guards van was to provide
the P & W crew with mess facilities during the occupation of the line.
