LMS Route: Water Orton to Walsall

LMS 4F No 4069 is seen running tender first as it works a Sunday ballast train through the station. The track has been renewed in the station and the absence of the barrow crossing's sleepers under the tender seems to confirm that this was very recent. Note behind the tender on the platform can be seen sleepers complete with chairs.

The volume of local passenger traffic would never have justified the line to be relayed very frequently, it was the line's usefulness as a diversionary route for both weekend excursions as well being for goods that justified the expense. C1930s
