Looking towards New Street with the up platform on the left hand side. The main station structure on the left has changed little over the years. The canopy utilises extensive glazing in order to maximise lighting for passengers seated in the waiting rooms etc. The wooden platform structure on the left is all that remains of the down platform structures seen in image 'mrso491'. The canal was sited to the left of the up platform.
