Ex-MR 0-6-2T 'Flatiron' No 2035 stands in front of an
unidentified classmate. The nickname 'Flatiron' was derived from the long side
tanks as it was said they helped the locomotive to resemble an old fashioned
solid metal iron known at the time as a flatiron. Number 2035 was built at
Derby works in August 1907 and nearly lasted 29 years in service being
withdrawn from Saltley shed in February 1936 and scrapped shortly afterwards.
