Ex-MR 2F 0-6-0 No 22983 waits full coaled with a wisp of steam drifting from its safety valves along side one of Saltley's many inspection pits. Number 22983 was a member of the MR's 1142 class and built by Beyer Peacock in December 1876. It lasted nearly 80 years in service before it was withdrawn from Toton shed in March 1956 wearing its British Railways running number 58159. 11th September 1937
