LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 8540 stands in front of LMS 6F5P 2-6-0 'Crab' No 2764 at the roofless shed. Number 8540 was was a LNER locomotive being built by Darlington works to the Railway Executive's instructions in December 1944. It lasted in service almost to the end of steam being withdrawn from Royston shed in October 1967 and scrapped in May 1968 by J Cashmore of Great Bridge. 28th September 1947

LMS 6F5P 'Crab' 2-6-0 No 2764 was built at Crewe in July 1927 and remained in service until January 1962 when she was withdrawn from this shed, Saltley, being scrapped too by J Cashmore of Great Bridge in April 1962.
