In this close up of image 'mrsalt431' we can see the "hoods"
that were suspended at the front and above each road to channel the smoke away
through the roof. On the left is a hand operated "capstan" for turning the
turntable (there are at least two in the main photograph), the handle can
clearly be seen. The turntable has been decked over a surprising safety feature
for the period and one not universally adopted.
