This close up of image 'mrsalt106' shows one of the coal wagons being raised up the outside of the tower. Careful study will show the wagon has been secured by two chains so that when it is tipped at the top it will remain secure. To minimise dust the tower had a sprinkler system to spray the coal when it was being discharged.
