MR 0-6-0 No 3726 stands 'wrong road' in Kings Norton station's up platform at what is thought an empty stock working

MR 0-6-0 3F No 3726 stands 'wrong road' in Kings Norton station's up platform at what is thought an empty stock working on 2nd August 1921. The number '3' shed plate, seen beneath the lower of the two smokebox door hinges, is the Midland Railway's classification for locomotives allocated to Saltley shed. To the left and behind the locomotive is the newsagent's stall added in the early 1900s. A member of the MR's 1873 class No 3726 was built by Neilson Reid & Company in 1901 and remained in service until November 1950 when as British Railways No 58307 it was withdrawn from 3E Monument Lane shed to be scrapped by Derby works before the end of the year.
