LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

Looking across the island platform towards the original station building built in 1849. Early stations were built for on the premise that First and Second Class passengers remained inside for protection until the their train had arrived at the platform, whilst Third Class passengers had to withstand the elements which was no more different than when travelled in open trucks. Consequently early station buildings were built without canopies as seen above. C1962
