LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Kings Heath Station: mrms517
Kings Heath Signal Box located at the Birmingham end of the
down platform. The box was responsible for the section of the line which
included the station and would receive and pass on permissions for trains to
enter or leave the section by contacting the adjacent boxes. However it was
also responsible for all the turnouts within the section and this required
wherever possible visible communications. Therefore the height and location of
the box was to enable the signalman to see beyond and under the bridge whilst
still maintaining sight of the throat of the goods yard at the south end of the
station.
