This close up of image 'mrk438' shows the waiting room on the down platform which whilst brick built was a basic design with three or four tall narrow windows. The station staff obviously takes a pride in their station with whitewashed platform edgings, flower beds and window cills.

Modelers might wish to note the rain gutter which runs across the gable end to a down pipe at the rear of the building. The porters barrow partly seen on the right and the porters trolley on the left indicates that there is in all probability a barrow crossing at the Birmingham end of the station to enable staff to cross the line.
