Looking towards Derby with the station staff house standing
at the end of the up platform circa 1956. John Griffiths writes 'the house at
the end of the platform was a staff house for the Porter, Lineman, etc. The
Station Masters House was the big one on the up side just before the platform.
The platforms were slightly staggered with the down (right) platform nearer to
Derby than the up platform. The goods yard was also located on the down
platform being behind the camera, to the right and in the Birmingham direction.
Also in the Birmingham direction was the rail bridge over Coventry Road
adjacent to which was the entrance for the access road to the goods yard.
Immediately beyond the this bridge, again in the Birmingham direction, was
Kingsbury Junction where the lines diverged, left to Whitacre and right to
Water Orton.
