Looking towards Redditch with the passing loop on the left and the MR signal box on the right. Being a block post the signal man was required both to collect and to give the single line tablet. To aid the process and to protect the signalman during this operation a raised staging with handle rail has been provided. Bob Essery describes his own personal recollections in his book on the line and states that when exchanging at speed the practice was for the fireman to throw his tablet to the ground in front of the signalman whilst the latter would hold his tablet up and away from himself.
