Ex-MR 1F 0-6-0T No 1700 is seen resting between shunting duties on the freight only line to Central Goods Yard circa 1936. Two guards, one seated the other standing, can be seen on the veranda of the ex-MR brake van whilst the fireman is standing on the footplate. Built at Derby works in February 1879 No 1700 remained in service for nearly 68 years being withdrawn from Rowsley shed in January 1947 and scrapped in June 1947 by Derby works.
