LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Camp Hill: mrch359
An Edwardian view of Camp Hill Station with the down
platform on the left. This view is looking south towards Kings Norton and shows
how the up platform (all lines to Derby on the MR were classified as up) was
narrowed where the platform crossed Highgate Road. The slope of the platform
led to the porters barrow crossing for passengers and luggage to reach the down
platform.
This unusual feature was installed because the platform
behind the photographer ceased abruptly due to the existence of the bridge over
Montpellier Street preventing the installation of the barrow crossing at the
end of the platform.
