LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Broom Junction Station: mrbj539b
This close up of image 'mrbj539' shows an unidentified
ex-LMS 4MT 4-6-0 at the head of an Ashchurch train passing the southern sidings
which are occupied by rakes of fitted vans. This junction was the original
installed to accommodate the SMJ entering Broom station and the first box was
named Broom South. In 1942 the need to carry wartime traffic via the SMJ to the
South West without the time consuming procedure of reversing at Broom Junction
resulted in an addition connection a little further south from this
location.
