Close up of image 'mrbj158' showing the two long sidings that lay to the south of the junction and the disused turntable. Despite the turntable still being connected, Arthur Jordan states in his book, that the turntable, originally built to turn SMJ locomotives, hadn't been used since 1922, which coincidentally was the last year of an independent SMJ railway company. From 1923, the London Midland Railway's control centre based at Saltley and already in charge of the former line from Birmingham to Gloucester line, different working practices would be applied. On the right between the fence and the turntable, as well as further down the line to the junction, are a number of lampposts which would have aided the turning of locomotives at night. An upturned wheelbarrow can be seen by the edge of the turntable pit.
