LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

Broom Junction Station: mrbj156a

Close up showing Broom North Junction Signal Box which appears to have been taken out of service

Close up image 'mrbj156' showing Broom North Junction Signal Box which appears to have been taken out of service when the station's signalling was rationalised to one signal box. The standard MR oblique angled two face station name board is still in place, yet to be replaced by the single faced version sited at an angle as seen in image 'mrbj157'. The two signals near to the camera control traffic destined for either Evesham or Stratford upon Avon, They are fitted with lower quadrant arms, which are lowered when in the 'off' position informing the driver the route is cleared for him to proceed. Upper quadrant signals, which were being introduced by the LMS, raised their arms when in the 'off' position, a safety feature less vulnerable to being obstructed by snow or ice.
