LMSR engines seen in the roundhouse at Bournville on a sunny Sunday in August 1947. Light is streaming in from outside giving the shed a light and airy appearance. The turntable has lost the timber flooring which used to cover over the pit. Perhaps the new 57 foot turntable had been fitted [see introduction at top of page]. Engines can be identified from left to right as follows:

3MT 2-6-2T No 178 built 1938 - renumbered 40178 in 1950
4P 4-4-0 No 1064 built 1924 - renumbered 41064 in 1949
2F 0-6-0 No 22863 built 1874 - rebuild undated - allocated number 58113 not carried
2P 4-4-0 No 439 built 1893 - renewal undated - renumbered 40439 in 1949
3F 0-6-0 No 3583 built 1899 - rebuild undated - renumbered 43583 in 1949
4P 4-4-0 No 1039 built 1908 - rebuild undated - renumbered 41039 in 1948
No 22863 was a Bournville engine when withdrawn in 1949.
No 41039 was a Gloucester engine when withdrawn in 1950.
No 41064 was a Bournville engine when withdrawn in 1957.
No 40178 was a Southport engine when withdrawn in 1961 (Nottingham based by 1950).
No 40439 was a Bournville engine when the shed closed in 1960, withdrawn 1961.
No 43583 was a Bournville engine when the shed closed in 1960, withdrawn 1962.
