This close up of image 'mra470' shows the nature of the layout of the junction with the GWR branch to Bearley. As can be seen, the siding to the right can only access the loop line on the left, a safety measure to eliminate facing pointwork. The connection to the branch is still evident because whilst the line was closed to passengers on 25th September 1939; for goods, the official closure date was 1st March 1951.
