LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

Alcester Station: mra135a

Close up of image 'mra135' showing the station's main building with doors to the store, waiting room, ladies waiting room, bricked up door to the booking hall and booking office. The first door on the left provided access to a store, whilst the second door is gained access to the General Waiting Room. The third door provided access to the Ladies Only Waiting Room, which had an en-suite toilet on the right as we view it, its window can just be seen between the clock on the platform and the bricked up doorway. The Gentlemen's toilet was located behind the store room but was accessed via the door on the side elevation, as can be seen in the above photograph. Lighting appears to be by gas, which may have been via Alcester Town's own supply or via gas generated on site. The sloping fencing on the left was a typical feature found at Midland Railway country stations.
