LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Lifford: mr_lif494a
This close up of mr_lif494 shows that the
platform structures on the left were, unlike its counterpart opposite, separate
buildings each of a similar size. The reason why three small units not one
larger unit was built is unknown. They appear to be either waiting rooms or
toilets or both. When built in the mid-1880s the LNWR would offer First, Ladies
and general waiting rooms even at small stations so on this basis each could
have its own separate building. On the left the railings appear to show that
there are steps going down, Its not known if this was an underpass to the
platform opposite an exit/entrance or both although Lifford Lane was at the
opposite end of the station.
