Looking towards Wolverhampton with Winson Green station in the distance and the canal to the left on the 1st June 1962. The configuration of the station can easily be seen with the main line to Wolverhampton on the left and the line to Perry Barr on the right. Note the absence of any platform buildings except the one on the island platform would indicate that by the end of its working life the majority of passengers commencing their journey from Winson Green were passengers commuting into Birmingham New Street. The other passengers using the down platform to Wolverhampton and the up platform on the Perry Barr route would have used the waiting rooms in the main station building suspended above the line. What is a puzzle is that the building still looks in very good condition despite the fact that the station closed on 16th September 1957, nearly five years earlier.
