British Railways built Ivatt 2MT No 46446 is seen at the head of a Nuneaton to Leamington local passenger service in June 1951. Built at Crewe in March 1949 No 46446 remained in service until December 1966 when it was withdrawn from Shrewsbury shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Newport in September 1967. Reg Kimber writes, 'No 46446 and sister engine No 46445 were probably the only new locos ever to come to Coventry shed. Even then the records showed one of them first allocated briefly to 5A. There was great excitement amongst the rail fraternity at school when they arrived'.
