This close up of image 'lnwrwar_stn1409' helps to provide an understanding of the location of the goods shed and sidings as well as the locomotive shed which was situated behind the goods yard to the left out of sight of the photographer. The sidings in the distance are shown in an 1890 diagram in 'LMS Stations' to be No 1, No 2 and 'Smiths' sidings, all parallel with the running lines.

To the left of the down (left) platform were sidings leading to the goods shed and yard. Behind the latter, and accessed from the running lines via the same pointwork providing access to No 1 etc. sidings, was the locomotive shed and turntable.
