The name change by BR in 1953 to Leamington Spa (Milverton) for Warwick was an accurate description as the station was in reality significantly closer to, if not in, Leamington Spa. However this name change caused passengers much confusion. What is the difference between Leamington Spa (Milverton) and Leamington Spa Avenue? A missed connection is the answer.

To counter the confusion the above board had the following chalk notice. 'Passengers for Banbury, Oxford, Reading, Didcot & beyond change at Leamington Spa Avenue Station NOT THIS STATION'.
