Sundays were always a good time to bunk (visit) a shed as
there were few workings. A variety of ex-LNWR goods locomotives can be seen in
the photograph ex-LNWR 0-6-0 Cauliflowers and ex-LNWR 0-8-0 'Super Ds'. Note
the build up of ash between the rails.
As can be seen from the little pile of ash, locomotives
didn't always have access to a pit to clean out the ash and clinker although in
this instance the residue is probably from the smokebox. It will be far easier
to spread the ash than to shovel it up into one of the open wagons seen in
previous photographs.
